Position Overview: Basic Operator
As a Basic Operator in our packing hall, you’ll play a crucial role in ensuring that our products are efficiently packed and meet production and quality standards. This permanent position offers you the chance to work with industry-standard machinery and take responsibility for key processes that help keep our operations running smoothly.

Key Responsibilities
In this hands-on role, your daily tasks will include:
- Conducting pre-start inspections, machinery start-up, and shutdown procedures in line with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
- Monitoring material levels and requesting replenishment before stock runs out
- Collaborating with the Line Operator during production changeovers and assisting with packaging stock reconciliation
- Operating and maintaining allocated equipment to ensure consistent production flow
- Adjusting machine settings and ensuring they meet product specifications
- Performing size and variant changeovers on designated equipment
- Carrying out Autonomous Maintenance (AM) up to Step 3, keeping equipment in optimal working condition
- Promptly reporting any line issues to the Line Operator or Production Shift Manager
You’ll help ensure that our high-quality spreads are packed correctly, safely, and efficiently—ready to be shipped to stores and homes across South Africa.
Minimum Job Requirements
To qualify for this exciting opportunity, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Educational Qualification:
- N3 Certificate, NQF Level 3, or Matric (Grade 12)
- Skills and Attributes:
- Basic understanding of production processes and machine operations
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow SOPs accurately
- Good communication skills and a team-player mindset
- Willingness to learn and engage in continuous improvement practices
- Physical ability to work in a production environment
