Purpose of the Role
This role is designed to strengthen asset management, enhance internal controls, and promote efficient governance practices within the National Treasury and its associated entities. The successful candidates will contribute to accurate asset tracking, verification, and compliance with asset management policies.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must meet the following criteria to qualify:
- Grade 12 (NQF Level 4) – Required
- 0–12 months experience in physical asset verification (entry-level friendly)
- Basic understanding of asset verification, asset disposal, and general administrative processes
- Strong attention to detail, accurate record-keeping skills, and good communication abilities
Key Performance Areas (Duties)
1. Asset Register Support
- Gather necessary supporting documents for asset management processes
- Tag departmental assets and apply identification labels
- Provide administrative and office support to the asset management unit
2. Disposal of Redundant or Obsolete Assets
- Identify outdated, damaged, or unusable assets for disposal
- Assist with the disposal verification process as per government procedures
- Transfer redundant items to secure designated storage areas
3. Verification of Departmental Assets
- Conduct physical verification of departmental assets and equipment
- Report discrepancies, missing items, or damage for further follow-up
- Assist in reconciling the Asset Register with verification results
- Clean up redundant or duplicated listings
- Issue asset inventory acknowledgment forms to employees
