AFGRI is proud to offer a 3-year apprenticeship opportunity aimed at training and developing future Tractor Mechanics or Earthmoving Mechanics. This in-service training programme combines theoretical learning and hands-on experience, preparing individuals for a rewarding technical career in the agricultural and engineering sectors.
Programme Overview
The apprenticeship is structured over three years and begins with a 6-month probation period. This initial phase allows both the apprentice and the company to determine if the partnership is a suitable long-term fit. During this time, either party may choose to withdraw without penalty. If the probation period is successfully completed, the apprentice will enter into a formal training contract with AFGRI.
Training Components
- Practical Training: Apprentices will attend a Practical Training Institute for various technical phases (if applicable).
- Theoretical Learning: Apprentices will register for relevant N-level subjects through a college and complete them via distance learning, which may include Saturday classes.
- Product Training: Specific product and systems training from John Deere, AFGRI internal trainers, and other industry suppliers.
- On-the-job Experience: Hands-on learning in real work environments under the guidance of qualified technicians.
Training is free if passed. However, any failed training modules must be redone at the apprentice’s own cost and on their own time.
This programme is bound by a 3-year contract, which includes a work-back clause. If an apprentice resigns before completing the training or before fulfilling the work-back period, costs incurred during training may be recovered based on the timing of withdrawal. The contract has a maximum duration of 4 years, after which it will automatically expire if the apprentice has not qualified.
