Introduction
Cementation Africa Training Academy invites applications from suitably qualified and motivated individuals—referred by a Cementation Africa employee—for the 18.2 (Non-Employed) Occupational Health, Safety and Environment Learnership Programme. This opportunity offers practical training and theoretical knowledge to help learners build a strong foundation in workplace health, safety, and environmental management.
Programme Overview
The purpose of this qualification is to provide learners with essential knowledge and skills to operate safely and effectively in any work environment. Participants will gain a solid understanding of Occupational Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) principles and how to apply them in real workplace scenarios.
This programme equips learners to:
- Identify and manage occupational health and safety risks.
- Promote a culture of health, safety, and environmental awareness.
- Conduct workplace safety assessments and implement corrective measures.
- Demonstrate responsibility, independence, and professionalism in the workplace.
Successful learners will be prepared for entry-level roles in the field of occupational health and safety and may pursue further qualifications within this career path. The learnership runs over six (6) months and combines both theoretical and practical components.
Minimum Requirements
To qualify for this learnership, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Education: Grade 10 or 11 (submit a stamped school report card showing pass or promote).
- Grade 12 will be an added advantage.
- Employment Status: Must be currently unemployed.
- Citizenship: Must be a South African citizen.
- Language Skills: Good written and verbal communication in English.
- Medical Fitness: Must be medically fit to work in an underground mining environment.
- Criminal Record: Must have no criminal record.
- Female Candidates: Must not be pregnant due to safety requirements.
- Substance Policy: Cementation Africa maintains a strict ZERO tolerance for alcohol and illegal substances; all learners will undergo testing during onboarding and randomly throughout the programme.
- Travel: Must be able to travel at own cost to and from the Cementation Africa Training Academy in Carletonville every second week.
- Other: Must not be currently registered for any other learnership programme.
